There is less than a week until the ‘Sunny Spring’ workshop and I’m very happy to see the sun has come out this morning.  I was seriously wondering whether I needed to change the theme to a winter one!

In two weeks time is the ‘Happy Birthday Smart Owls’ workshop and I’m so pleased that so many workshop regulars are able to celebrate this special date with me.

Both workshops are fully booked but if you want to be one of the first to hear about the new workshop dates for after the summer (yes, I am planning them already!) just email smartowlsch@gmail.com and I’ll add you to my mailing list.

Many thanks to all the children and parents who attended the two workshops on Saturday.  It was an extremely busy day but very enjoyable.

The fine motor skills activity morning was indeed very active with the children trying most of the twenty activities which were on offer.  It also gave me a valuable opportunity to talk with parents about what sort of workshops they would like to see in the future and I have a number of different ideas to investigate now.

The talking and listening games workshop in the afternoon provided many laughs, especially when the children competed in two teams to build the highest tower out of marshmallows and cocktail sticks (which is a lot harder than it sounds).  It was very rewarding to see the group’s confidence grow as the afternoon went on and the quality and detail of the discussions and instructions certainly improved with each task.

I will update the gallery this evening with photographs from the weekend and then there is a few weeks rest until the next workshop (Read, Rhyme, Craft – Spooky Times).

I know that getting your child to hold their pencil correctly is an issue which comes up frequently so I wanted to share this wonderful blog post from Mama OT.

I hope this gives you some ideas to try with your child.

Tuition

Posted on: 05/07/2012

Just to keep my website up to date, I am now fully booked for tuition.

I do have a waiting list so if you are interested in your child attending lessons please contact me and I can send you the information sheet.  Although I do not anticipate having any space until January at the earliest, situations change and as we all know people can be relocated unexpectedly.

I have updated the workshop page with the dates of all the workshops scheduled after the summer.

There are two new locations and a total of seven workshops planned.

Although it is very early to be thinking about several of the dates we all know how busy everything becomes in August once the schools go back so right now is the perfect time to schedule some fun activities!

Several weeks ago I recorded a video interview with Branka from the kidster website about reading and writing at home with your child.  The video has now been uploaded and is available here.

I’ve been very busy over the last few days getting everything ready for the next workshop, ‘Read, Rhyme, Craft – Marvellous Minibeasts’.  It’s been a lot of fun choosing the crafts and stories and I hope the children have as much fun on Saturday as I have getting organised.

I’ve also been to see several new places to check their suitability for workshops after the summer.  I’m very happy to have  several dates booked and will announce the new workshops very soon.  If you do want to be among the first to hear about the new workshops then just send me a message at smartowlsch@gmail.com and I’ll add you to the mailing list.
